End Grain Lamp Table
I really enjoyed designing and building this end grain lamp table. The inlayed top includes ebony dividers with a custom made end grain veneer. The veneer includes 23 exotic and domestic wood species. The primary wood in the table is sapele.

A very nice piece; a functional work of art. Are you familiar with the wood sculptures & murals of George Morrison? Given your interest (and achievement) in this style of work, you might find his expressionist woodwork interesting. Best regards & thanks for the photos.
The end-grain pattern is similar to African-american quiltmaking, or even African textiles. Was tht something you were aware of? I'm curious to read your response to Jurgon01's comment, too.
Thanks, Tom Senft
Thank you very much for the compliments on my end grain table. I am not familiar with George Morrisons work, I will certainly check it out though.

Tom,
Your not the first person to tell me that this table looks similar to a quilt. When I originally designed the table I did not intend for it to resemble a quilt, but that is okay.
