Gallery: Waves Wall Sculpture
Wall Sculpture 8′ x 5′ Cherry and Steel with Lacquer Finish. I took three planks cut from the same log then cut each plank into smaller pieces. Each piece was turned off center on the lathe. The pieces were reassembled with steel rods so the grain is continuous. The piece was recently installed at the Neil Armstrong Building at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

This is really nice! Could you add a bit of commentary to the description to tell us about the process? Also, where is it displayed?
It gives me an idea: what if you turned a ripple effect from a single center point on a piece of wood (smaller than this of course) and then cut it into pieces and assemble it? I digress...
Thanks. I have added more information. I agree there are a lot of possibilities.
Dan,
This deserved to be installed at the Neil Armstrong Building at Purdue University, better yet - ANYWHERE!!!!! It is unique and done very nicely!
