I’m calling this piece a media sideboard as it houses audio/video components behind the doors and a collection of CDs and movies in the drawers. Part of my design intent was to end up with a piece that will look just as at home in a dining room or hallway long after the media components have become obsolete.

The primary woods are cherry and curly maple, secondary woods are quartersawn white ash and hard maple. Knobs and pegs are ebony. The finish is an oil/varnish mixture.
I incorporated a bay in the back for a surge protector/power strip. This is also a space to contain the inevitable and unsightly 'rats nest' of wires that might otherwise hang out the back.
