Carved Chair With Forged Frame
The seat and arms are stack laminated and carved. The back is made from layers of thin, finnish birch plywood that I bent between two cauls. There’s actually 2 laminated plates; one veneered, one upholstered. The trick was in making a matching radius jig for bending the steel. The leg structure is mostly hollow made from a steel rod armature with 1/8” plates shaped and welded on top and bottom…lots of gas welding which I find to be as mesmerizing as turning…lots of grinding which is every bit as thankless as sanding.

That is inspirational! Dude, did you do the metal work as well? That looks like a cross between Angalena Jolee and George Jetsons daugther Judy. Hot man, Hot.
If you`ve done any more things, would it be possible for you to send me a picture?
I'm currently setting up a blog with photos of other work in wood and metal. Furniture and hand planes. You can find it by typing in http://www.mateopanzicafurniture.wordpress.com
