The Funeral Chair Part Five: Shaping the Parts.
The clip begins with installing elevated bench dogs into the existing holes on my bench top.
You’ll find detailed plans to make a set of your own elevated bench dogs on pg. 40 of my new book-
The elevated bench dogs allow you to hold work off your work bench surface.
This makes it easy for shaping parts and planing bevels and/or chamfers along the edges of small parts.
These could be turned out on a lathe, but I enjoyed shaping them with a hand plane.
Like all things custom made, these chair parts could be left square, tapered, or any other design element you may think of.
The book offers one way, use your imagination and try to adapt the design to suit your own style.
