Very nice. Proportions work well. Are the lower rails steam bent as well? No hardware for the doors or drawer? Good job!
Mrossk, thank you for your comment. All curved pieces were steam bent. As far as hardware goes, the client had not yet decided on a pull style.
Very nice design! Unique and classic. I'd like to know the overall dimensions.
M1muddy, the dimensions are 68.5" long x 31.5 tall x 18.5 deep. Thanks for your comment. It's appreciated.
Hello, a very nice piece and a niece wood selection.
I'm a novice when it comes to steam bending.
Did you bend the individual door parts (rails and style) or did you steam bend the assembled door? Is that even possible?
How acceptable is cherry to steam bending when comparing to other woods like oak, ash, beech or maple?
Best regards from Germany Michael
MichaelM, thank you for your comment. The rails and stiles were bent individually and then assembled. I had no problems bending the cherry stock. It was steamed for 1 and a quarter hours at 220 degrees and with the assistance of bar clamps bent around my jigs without much effort.
Have a great day!
