Crib
The crib was made for my grandson. It is made of solid cherry. There are 12 assembled pieces made up of 124 pieces of wood. The two end flat panels are cherry veneers over ½” particle board. The mattress support is maple veneer over ¾” plywood. The crib is finished with three coats of Polyurethane Satin. Half inch maple dowels were used for the joinery on the end pieces. The slats on the fixed back and front drop side are joined with mortise and tenons. Twenty-four hours epoxy glue was used on all the joints including the moulding at the bottom of each foot. There are 98 pieces of hardware, screws, bolts, flanges etc. The crib construction conforms to all safety requirements published by Health
Canada. The crib can be used with the fixed back and front drop side attached as a crib. The front drop side slides and stops in two positions. The mattress support can be placed in two height positions as the child grows. Both the fixed back and front drop side can be removed and the mattress support put in the lower position to enable the crib to be used as a day bed. The crib can also be used as a sofa with the front drop side removed and the fixed back side in place acting as a back rest. A keepsakes compartment is located in the mattress support
