I’d like to build the Charles Durfee computer desk featured in the July/Aug 2003 issue. It would be the most complex project I’ve undertaken, and certainly challenge my skills. So I’d like to start with as much detailed information as I can get. I can’t find plans, beyond the magazine article. Does anyone know if detailed drawings exist?

If you do a web search you will find Charles Durfee's web site and contact information. Maybe he will sell you the plan.
That is indeed a complicated build.

That having been said, it should not be too hard to replicate from the information given in the magazine article.
It's a matter of breaking it down into component steps and seeing the work as a series of sub-assemblies. The article actually does break it down this way if you think about it.
What additional information would you like to get from a formal plan? There are many on this forum who enjoy woodworking puzzles and would no doubt be more than happy to help.
Rob_SS is correct. You should be able to work from the article and get it sorted out.
Personally, if I were going to build it I would first go through and create a digital model of it. This would allow me to check all of the dimensions provided in the article and get dimensions that may not be present or obvious. I can make changes to dimensions to customize the project if needed, too. That also allows me to think through things like machine setups and order of operations. Many folks would be happy to go to the shop with the article and just get to cutting wood and that's fine, too.
Out of curiosity I took a few minutes to sketch out the cabinet and add the joinery details. I found a couple of small errors and some interesting details to at least consider while building it. Nothing that can't be worked out in the shop but things I would be glad to know about before I started cutting wood.
Wow, you must be a whiz to manage that in a few minutes. I'm jealous! I think I'll spend some time going over the details on my own and try to discover where I might need further clarification, and then contact Charles. Thanks for the help.
It only took a few minutes to get to the starte of the first image. I worked on the rest of it off and on over a few hours. Pretty much everything you need is in the article just go over it with a fine toothed comb. The thing I found useful in modeling it was the errors (or discrepancies) in dimensions are easily visible and you can then decide which dimensions to change to make things fit.
Best wishes on it.
I’d recommend sending him an email. I made his blanket chest, and sent him an email about it. He might not have plans, but he’s extremely nice and encouraging and graciously offered to answer any questions I might have.
