I am trying to find that article that I am 99% sure I saw in a FWWing mag, but I can’t find it. It is the one where the desk IS a computer, all the components are built into it. Help me out.

One of our fellow Knotters made a really nice one. Check the contests and the gallery.

yeah, i looked at the gallery, ill try the contests, thankshttp://www.cocoboloboy.webs.com
I have understood your post to mean that you will mount the components in a wooden desk, with no metal case. Some suggestions:
Take special care regarding ventilation. A surprising amount of heat is shed via the case. Wood is a good insulator. PCs get faster every few months and the heat generated by the chips increases with the square of the frequency.
I would also suggest some sort of barrier, like a sheet of aluminium, between the motherboard and the wooden case to reduce any fire risk. I have seen computers catch fire and it's not nice. To put this into perspective, 2 cases in a population of about 120 PCs in 10 years. But s**t happens!
yeah, this is for a friend who is building it, but I will pass on that info. and yes that is the gist of thingshttp://www.cocoboloboy.webs.com
Hi,
I don't suppose this is what you are after but it is very cool in any case and IS a whole contained work station with built in computer, fax, printer what not.
Until I read that you wanted the components to mount on the case I was sure this was what you referred to but am sending it along any way now that I looked it up just in case.
The slide show has the pics so start that to view what I am sending.
It was on the back cover of issue #199 and further info on page 102
