DeWalt’s 14.4v drill-driver features an unusual three-speed transmission delivering a maximum 1,800 rpm. We originally tested model number DW983 XRP but it was changed to DW 983K-2.
This is the only drill-driver tested that has three speed settings. It is a solid tool, even though it came in considerably lower than the manufacturer’s advertised numbers in the torque test. The chuck held bits tightly.
