Powermatic’s 14-in. bandsaw features a two-piece cast iron table and a one-piece stand, and includes the Carter quick tension release to ease blade changing.
The fit and finish were good, and the saw performed well during the test cuts, with the motor showing no tendency to bog down. It had little wheel or tire runout and one of the flattest tables. It’s the only saw with a quick-release tension lever, and it had the largest table. This saw has cast-iron wheels and trunnion support.

The thick, felted bag on this Shop Fox is a plus and a minus. On one hand, it makes the unit much less expensive than collectors with canister filters, and also lighter and easier to hang on the wall. Without a separate plastic bag to catch chips, however, they stay in the felt bag, and the shortish zipper on the bottom makes it tough to shake them out. Otherwise, the W1826 is an excellent value.
