The beginning

This table, of solid African Mahogany, is 11'-6" diameter and 31" tall. There are ten legs, five inner and five outer, each group sitting in a pentagon pattern; the legs are attatched via five lower stretchers and five upper aprons. The top consists of 16 total boards, forming two halves mounted on a sub-top assembly. The table is a dry fit allowing it to be dissassembled and relocated if needed. The finish is Old Masters full bodied Dark Mahogany stain, with seven coats of Bartley's hand rubbed gel varnish. The carvings are the work of master carver, Sarah Rowe, please visit her web-site, sarahrowe.com; there, you will learn the details of the carvings and if you desire, purchase a book about the table explaining it's origin and purpose.

I have about 600 hours of work in the table and to this date it is certainly the most difficult piece I have been invovled with.
