Floating Media Shelves

My customer wanted shelves for cd and dvd media that would cantilever from the masonry wall. The budget was also limited. Hardware expense and installation time for placing the shelves demanded a different solution. The "backboard" is a 4' x 8' sheet of 1" thick maple plywood; the arc cut allowed for expansion of support by an additional 8." Dados were cut prior to "separation... and then 3/4" thick shelves were individually fitted into the backboard. Installation time reduced to fifteen minutes. Maple plywood with precat lacquer.

Thanks. As I recall dados were 1/2" deep in the 1" thick maple plywood "back." Then glued and fixed from backside with confirmats.
