Myko
Bayside, N.Y.
In April 2024, Myko attended a presentation on Japanese hand planes by Andrew Hunter in which he called out several shortcomings of Western planes. Afterward, Andrew and Myko chatted about possible modifications. Somewhere in the conversation Andrew said, “You should make that.” Myko decided to take up the lighthearted challenge and converted a Stanley No. 27-1/2 into what he calls his “Asian Fusion Handplane.” According to Myko, it is easy to use and the cut quality is outstanding.
