bead board in bathroom
Bead board installed. Bead was made with a Deeley symetrical molding plane. The chair rail was made in four steps. Square the stock, run the side bead, plane the quirk side of the bead down to the bottom of the quirk and make the cove. The portion under the chair rail is a rectangle with a 1/2 ogee. The individual boards were cut to 4" width and the bead detail planed. A rabbet was run under the bead and on the face of the other side. The ship lapped boards were installed with heavy duty double backed tape. The chair rail and base moldings were installed and the whole thing painted.
My wife wanted a bead board detail installed in our guest bathroom. She also wanted something no one could copy. I used a Deeley symetrical molding plane to make the bead.

I am curious about wood movement. Is the headboard made of solid hardwood? If so, how did you account for wood movement?
