Bombe Chest of Drawers
Woodworker: Joseph P. Klosek
Klosek made this bombé chest of drawers as his final project while a student at the Furniture Institute of Massachusetts. His goal was to challenge his abilities as a cabinetmaker with a project that would combine different skills such as carving and compound-angle joinery. Klosek describes this mahogany chest (23 in. deep by 35-1⁄2 in. wide by 32 in. tall) as an interpretation rather than a reproduction, because he decided to accentuate the curve of the sides and slightly flatten the serpentine shape of the front.
