Shaker-style Rocking Chair
Woodworker: Matt Berger
Inspired by the classic No. 6 rocking chair produced by the Shakers and an article from Fine Woodworking #177, Berger took some liberties with the design, foregoing the classic finials and back slats for a top rail for hanging blankets and a larger woven back. The seat and back are woven with 1-in. wide shaker tape, and filled with 2-in. thick foam. It is constructed with air-dried ash and finished with shellac.
