Shaker Loom

Woodworker: Robert RoemischWhile demonstrating 19th-century woodworking at the historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Kentucky, Roemisch wanted to build a project that wasn’t a typical Shaker reproduction yet still showed historic woodworking techniques. This cherry loom—with its through-mortise-and-tenons, wedged mortise-and-tenons, and bridle joints—fit that bill. Finished with Danish oil, polyurethane, and wax, it is 38 in. deep by 39 in. wide by 60 in. tall From Fine Woodworking #222
