Just having moved into the Gulfport, MS area I was looking for a reliable source of quality wood for furniture, cabinets, etc. If any of you Knotheads have such a source could you post it. Thanks in advance.

Check out http://www.woodfinder.com . Not all sources will be listed, but often there are sources that are otherwise hard to find without "local knowledge"
Checked Woodfinder and I am looking for the "local Knowledge"
Greg
GW,
Welcome to the coast! I'm not too far away, over in Picayune.
Closest gig is Riverside Lumber (New Orleans). They got wiped out in the storm, but are back in business. You are welcome to pick your own lumber from the warehouse. The prices are a little high.
About the same distance is Acadian Hardwoods in Ponchatoula, LA. Quite a large operation, you don't really get to pick your own lumber - call ahead and they will pull it for you. They have an exceptional selection of plywood and very fair prices.
Also there is a Woodraft franchise just south of Mobile, AL. Large selection but mid to high prices. No plywood. But they have a great tool selection - pretty much everything that is in the catalog is in the store.
I haven't found anything closer - or on the coast. So if you find something in the Gulfport area I would be interested as well.
Best of luck,
Lee
Lee,
Thanks for the reply, Riverside came up in Woodfinder but not Acadian Hardwood. I will keep looking and if I find something I'll let you know.
Greg
