While assembling a store-bought bookcase, I managed to break a couple of screw-posts, and the store I bought it from can’t help me with getting parts. (That’s another story, deep sigh.) I’ve attached a picture of the screw post I’m talking about (a non-broken version). I don’t even know the proper name to call these things, which is impeding my ability to search for it 🙂
The screw show is just shy of an inch long (as shown by the 1/4″ grid paper in the background), and is designed to thread into veneered particle board, and then be captured by a cam-lock. I know it’s a bit out of focus — my digital camera wasn’t happy focusing this close.
I’ve tried every variant of “cam-lock parts” I can think of, but can’t seem to actually find a supplier on the web. I did find a zillion references to furniture that’s to be assembled with cam-lock fasteners, but no source of actual supply for the fasteners themselves.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Look in their hardware section under fasteners.

Looks to me like it is a 5mm screw in cam lock pin. You could try a shelving/storage place like closet world, etc. It's about a $.05 part. This would be your best bet of locating one, they are used for RTA assembly and usually sold through the larger distributors.
If you have a hard time locating one, I have the 'Mushroom" type with a plastic sleeve that expands when the camlock is engaged, fits in a 5mm hole.
Craig is right - it is the 5mm type.
I'm the other side of the pond otherwise I'd stick one in the post to you - maybe someone closer may volunteer. What is wrong with shops these days - how stupid do they have to be.
Hope you sort it out.

Along with the other sources mentioned, Rockler carries this stuff as well.

Dan's lead to Lee Valley may get you what you need. However, there are lots of sizes of those things, and you might need to look further. Woodworkers Supply (http://www.woodworker.com) has some which they call "two-piece KD fitting"; one part number is 866-504. Hafele (who I think invented them) has a large variety of them, but Hafele only sells wholesale, so you'll need to find a cabinet shop or somebody who can order from them. Hafele's name for them is Mini-fix, which might give you another google term.
Good luck!

Check these guys out.

Look on the fastener page for specialty fasteners. They sell the type of hardware you may need. Look for the Klix Cam products

Thanks everybody! With the correct name for the item, and the leads you all gave me, I believe I've found what I need and have already ordered it! Much appreciation for the fast replies.

If what you get is still not right, go to a stereo shop that sells knock-down cabinets. They usually have extra parts like these.I cut this piece four times and it's still too short.
Get me some more specifics on the size and what not. I probably have some and will sent them to you . It would help if you can get a name of the the apposing part. these usually have a name and in some cases a part number.
So far, I have not found the exact configuration that you have. But, you might want to try your local Ace hardware store. I have been into a few of them that have a tray of K.D. fittings. Check where they have those little pull out tray of cotter pins, specialty hardware and what not.
The ones I do have the same thread length, but the shank length is shorter and the phillips end is a little shorter/thinner. They still might work.
