Table saw starting problem running on a generator
I recently replaced my 30+ year old Beaver table saw which ran flawlessly on my Honda generator; always started
instantly. The motor was the original Franklin 1HP 110V. The new saw is a General with a Baldor motor downsized
to a 1HP 110v. When starting this unit there is vibration from the motor and it does not reach speed. I can get it to
start after several attempts and it performs fine and is smooth and quiet; but, the motor start mechanism and/or capacitor
have failed twice so far and had to be repaired. The cable from the generator is 12 gauge about 30′ long; I ran the old saw
successfully with 14 gauge cable!! The generator is 6500W and I’m using the 30A outlet; it’s running at 60Hz and 130V.
thanks for any input.

Try it with the 14 GA.
Extension cord
You are under the boarder line for amp draw on 14 gauge at 30' and 12 gauge is at the boarder line for that load and distance.
I would be looking for a good heavy duty 10 gauge cord. And always fully uncoil and extension cord when in use. They will heat up a lot while coiled
