Can someone point me to a source for Makita planer parts. I have the 2012. I would like get a dust hood. Currently, I just let the chips fly. It is the older style where the cutters were fixed, and the table supporting the wood was elevated. I hope that I don’t have to have one custom made. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This is an excellent site for Makita repair parts, includes parts sheets. The company is Louis Williams and Sons in North Carolina. There web address for parts is: http://www.makita-direct.com

I was miffed at how much Makita wanted for their hood so I made my own from PVC. I'm sure the official hood performs better but mine works fine as long as there's good airflow. I sold my planer (maybe even to you?) so if you want the hood it's yours for the cost of shipping. Let me know...
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you. I was away at the in-laws for the holiday. I called and spoke with a local makita repair shop and they ordered my one for $22.00. It was just before saw this post. I sure would have took your's first. Looked realy good. Thanks anyway.
If it's any consolation my home-made one did jam on long shavings generated from planing wide pine boards. But this was when I was using a Shop-Vac into a garbage can seperater thru a 2.5" hose--certainly not an ideal dust collector. The Makita steel hood should be larger & harder to plug up if your collector is undersized. Good luck!
