Show your work in our new gallery!
FineWoodworking.com is about to launch a brand-new, easy to use community photo gallery to feature your work and comment on other people’s photos.
We’ll officially open the new gallery in a couple of weeks. Right now, we’re inviting the woodworkers who use the Knots Gallery to be among the first to have their work on display.
Here’s what to do:
1. Go to http://finewoodworking.taunton.com/gallery to visit the new gallery. Click on “Post Your Project” to get started. Use your existing Knots login and password to sign-in (it will know who you are and preserve your existing screen name). Since you’ve already registered on Knots, you don’t need to register again.
2. You will be asked to set up a profile for yourself with your first post. You can include a photo of yourself or choose one of the avatar images, and you can enter whatever personal information you wish to share with our woodworking community. Or you can skip this step.
3. Use the easy form to upload your photos and enter details about your project. The more photos you include with each entry, the better. (There’s a 4-megabyte upper limit to image size. And if the images are too small, they won’t appear.)
4. Hit the “Publish” button and your photos will be available for all to see.
If you’ve posted photos of your work on the old Knots Gallery, I encourage you to move it to the new Members’ Gallery. Or, if you’ve been waiting for something better than the Knots Gallery, now’s your chance.
If you do encounter problems using the gallery, post a comment to let us know so we can get things fixed.

Fantastic idea. Set up profile OK but picture size I wanted to post was had too many pixils. Have to try with something else.

As I said in my original post, there are limits to image sizes. I found that images 600 to 800 pixels wide and/or 600 to 800 pixels high worked well. Also, try setting the resolution to 72 pixels per inch.
Good luck.

Dave,
Figured out how to reduce the pixil size on the photo and published it.
This is a fantastic idea. Sharing, ideas, envy, feeling good comparing with others.
The picture was actually posted when the table was finished in a Knots post but I figured I would try the gallery with this one since the Buffet unit which goes with it isn't ready for prime time yet.

Doing my best to keep this thread top of mind. We're still looking for more input and testing on FineWoodworking.com's new Gallery.

If you haven't already visited the new photo community, I encourage you to do so. We're hoping to see more of you create a profile and post photos of your projects. You can also comment or rate people's photos with a thumbs up.
This is just the beginning of more great community features to come so we hope to see the Knots crowd get excited about it.
