replaceable insert router bits
Hello again to all. I am looking for feedback on replaceable insert router bits. I use straight bits for dadoes in casework but only use a small portion of the end of the bit which when dull, is worthless for the rest of it. I had seen in a magazine an ad for the Amana replaceable insert straight bits & thought maybe it would make sense (if cheaper or better). Any feedback would be appreciated. Happy holidays!

Been using insert bits for years. Maintains the cutting diameter and insert replacement is the cost of sharpening. It's been an industry standard especially for CNC for many years now. I like a number of brands. You should look at the Hersaf bits as well. I've also had custom insert bits made for our timber framing shop from Ridge Carbide but the cost is a few hundred and up...not your hobbyshop stuff but if you are in the business...definitely a good thing. Amana is new in the game of insert tooling but they have always put out a decent product. You'll have to crunch the numbers yourself to see if it's for you.
