Two wires fell out of my PC690 router. They are about 0.7mm diameter and 1.5 inches long. They are almost straight but not quite. They appear to be spring steel or other hardened steel. At first I though they were bearings but they appear to be cut with a shearing force creating an end too rough for a bearing.
What are they and is the router safe to operate?

Chuck,
The wires go into a groove on the inside edge of the black plastic height adjusting ring to lock the ring onto the top edge of the aluminum base. There were probably three of them, most likely one is still in the groove. On some of the 690's the wire was formed into one large ring that went all the way around the groove, but you have the segmented version.
If you lift off the ring you should be able to see where the wires go and put them back in place, just space them evenly around the ring. The easiest way to remove and replace the ring is to tighten the clamping screw without the router in the base, this will compress the diameter of the base and the ring will lift right off.
Hope this helps, John W.
Thanks John.
The black plastic ring is loose.
I am glad this is a non-threatening problem.
Chuck
