I finally made up my mind to make a pair of panel raising planes. I have lots of older blades that I am ready to grind to the proper angles and I think I will use a “Krenov”/Finck wooden body(laminated).
Question: Anybody out there made panel raising planes? I’m looking of ideas and direction on the construction.
Thanks ahead of time

Hi Dan
Look at FWW Issue #30 from page 59. There is an article by Robert Bourdeau, "A Pair of Panel Making Planes".
I, too have my eyes set on this, as there is a a whole bunch of cabinet doors in the wings.

Dan,
You might try:

There are a lot of online sites for this.
Of those people I've known that do a lot of hand panel work, they usually build them in pairs (left and right) because of the grain flow.

That is a great site and just the thing to get rolling on this project. As you pointed out, I need two planes.
I have had access to sets in the past(museum replicas) but that opportunity has changed. Additionally, the profile was a bit too steep for me. I like to keep large solid wood panels limited to 9/16 or a thin 5/8. Having said that, I need to build p.raisers to suit my needs.

Dan,
If you decide to go into production on the panel raisers, you might be able to sell a few.
