Last evening my Uncle gave me an old jointer he had out in the barn. After getting it home, I cleaned the rust and grime off of it and fired it up. It seems to work fine, but adjusting seems a little confusing for a new guy.
The jointer is a 4″ Delta Homecraft. That is about all of the info I could find on it. All parts are there and are functional. Any advice, hints, tips on it’s use and adjustments would be appreciated.

After a bit of research, it appears that the planer in question is a Delta Model 37-290 of the 1950's.
I had that same machine for a while. Sold it last fall. Log onto

I've got one of those!! Been using it almost 20 years. Fine little machine. Call the folks at Delta (1-800-223-7278). They will probably be able to tell you what year it was made and send you an owners/operators manual or a parts breakdown; maybe both.
Sharp knives and accurate adjustment will make that hummer work like a dream. Only thing is the short bed. Not good for large boards. Stick to short stock for a while until you get the feel for how it's supposed to work. Enjoy!
