Does anyone have a source for traditional marquetry patterns. I don’t mean pictures of fishing or balloons. I need the real deal.

Any picture is a source for a marquetarian. The only patterns I've seen are in books to get folks started in marquetry. A couple of great books on marquetry are by Pierre Ramond and William Lincoln. What exactly do you consider traditional patterns? Historically they tend to vary depending on the time period. A favorite theme has been the tromp-loeil where you create an illusion of something else. See http://www.silaskopf.com for some interesting examples of contemporary verions of traditional patterns.
I should be more specific. I need patterns befitting 17th-18th french and itallian furniture. I based the design for my client's table on my previous work and it has too many cherubs and flowers for her taste.
I keep thinking that if there is someone with enough spare time to publish "chicken soup for the cat lover's soul", there has got to be some old book with marquetry and inlay themes.
Dear friend,
You might want to check at an art store. Some carry design books grouped by themes, such as chinese art, folk-art, european art, symbols, and so forth. It would take copy and enlarge or cut and combine. The public library, or a university's library would also be good places to search-for.
Another alternative now days, even much more abundant, are the clip-art sites, or the clip-art graphics programs. Corel-Draw has thousands of graphics also grouped by types, and there are many such more.
Good luck.
