My makita 2012nb thicnesser does not want to stay on unless you keep the “on” switch pressed in. Otherwise it works 100%. Carbon brushes still OK and no other problems. Cleaned it and opened it but everything looks OK. Any ideas ?

Offhand, this could only be caused by a problem in the switch itself. If you take it the machine apart so you can get behind the switch panel you might find that the switch housing is packed up with sawdust and only needs cleaning out, but it is equally possible that the the problem is in the small sealed electrical contacts unit, in which case that will need to be replaced.
