I have around 300 little dentils to fit to a walnut cornice. They are tiny – about 3/8″ wide and thick and 5/8″ high. Any suggestions for fixing these? I’ve tried pinning which splits them and No More Nails which doesn’t stick em.

Hide glue. Rubbed into place they should hold nicely.
CA - cyanoacrylate - Hot Stuff could also do the trick. Probably the 'thick' stuff would be best.Frosty"I sometimes think we consider the good fortune of the early bird and overlook the bad fortune of the early worm." FDR - 1922
I'd watch the CA on a wood like walnut. Even the thick stuff can be pulled by capillary action through the poors and end up in the wrong place. Definitely go with the hide glue.Chris
Chris,
Yeh, and a smear of hide glue left in the small space between the blocks can cause problems too, if stain is used to color the wood. I have come to prefer having the dentils of a piece with the molding element directly above them-- that is, cut the teeth out, then work the mold.
using 23 gauge pinner?
If you don't have one of these, there are various degrees of tool quality, but don't feel shy about using an inexpensive import.
They don't split much at all.

Tried a pinner and it does split - also the thing has a fairly fierce recoil so not so good on things you can't hold in place.Thanks to those who suggested hide glue, hot-melt and Cycrro? Cyano? Hell Superglue. Mrs Tim also sugeested the latter. And a tiny drop sticks like the proverbial...Don't think I'm up to cutting the dentils with the moulding as we had a hell of a job just getting the mouldings (4 layers) to mitre reasonable.Anyway many thanks to all.

Hmmm. That sounds like maybe an 18 ga. nailer, not a pinner. No pinner I've ever used had any recoil at all. Heck, you hardly know the things have fired. Just a little "Pfft" and the piece is stuck, with no visible means of support. I've pinned some really tiny pieces with no problems. But it sounds like you solved your problem anyhoo.Mike HennessyPittsburgh, PAEverything fits, until you put glue on it.
