Hi Gary, I have read your article “From Rough to finish” , now I have to use two bowed boards 4″ wide x 1″ thick and 7′ long, I have no choice because I don’t want to buy more lumber , Can I fix this problem by clamping the boards on true flat surface for a period of time ? What you recommend?
Thanks and have a happy holidays !

Hi,
You do have a choice. Buy more lumber. But if you must use this stuff then clamp it flat and dampen the face with some water. So put the bowed face down to the flat surface and then wet down the other side a couple of times and let it dry out well. Absolutely no guarantees whatsoever that this will work. None. I would buy more lumber if you w ant to work with flat stock and not be faced with the attendant problems of gluing or joining bowed boards. Gary
