Hello to All,
Recently a neighbor of mine wanted my opinion about the value of a Delta jointer that his son acquired from the estate of his grandparents. Because he is not a woodworker, he is looking to sell it but is not sure about an asking price. Specifically it is a Delta Milwaukee Crescent 8″ jointer, Rockwell Mfg., Serial # 177-B. Although I have not seen it, he mentioned that it is in excellent condition and used for a home (hobby) woodshop. It is wired for 110V.
Anyone have an idea what this type of jointer might be worth?
Thanks for your help.

Used Machine Pricing
I think you'll find that prices for used woodworking machines will vary by geographic region, sometimes substantially so. Thus, you might try finding old listings in your local Craig's List or eBay listings for closed sales in your area.
The current Delta DJ-20 8" jointers sells for $1800-$2000, new, and perhaps $800-$1000 used. Your friend's son's jointer is much older, however, and probably worth less, as a result. The "Crescent" on the label might suggest a vintage somewhere in the 1950-1970 range, after Crescent Machine Company was acquired by Delta. The following links may be helpful for further research:

Wrong coast for me, unfortunately.
