I was just wondering if anyone else out there has an ecogate system installed with multiple “Green Boxes” and are having problems with their system. We had a system installed about 18 months ago. Ity has about 20+ stations and three controller boxes all hooked up in series to a fifteen horse blower. We have had many problems ranging from all the gates not working on one of the controller boxes to the dust collector not shutting down at all. I’ve done a lot of trouble shooting and I can’t seem to get the system to cooperate.

Who did the install? Did the system work before? have you contacted Ecogate yet?
I don't know anything about this system, but are the green boxes connected by dip switches to coordinate with each other?
Maybe your codes are wrong, and not communicating with each other properly.
As I said, I don't know anything about Ecogate, but they must have a customer service rep to help you.
Another question, what size are your gates?
Charlie
Yes I have been in contact w/ Ecogate. More times than I'd like to mention. And I think their customer service is actually pretty good except it's really difficult trying to decipher what they are saying sometimes because all thier technicians speak with a very thick Indian accent.
That just hepled me decied not to go with ecogate.
Well I didn't want to talk you out of anything. I've heard their product is probably okay for a smaller shop where you'd have maximum 8 machines hooked up. Our system is just so big it kind of gets complicated with all the connections trying to trouble shoot where the problems lie.
Sorry, I was not slamming foreigners; our country is made up of foreigners, except for American Indians.
My point is that Customer service is very important to me. And If I can't communicate with them, their service is unless to me.
Maybe you should see if Ecogate is willing to send you some more Green boxes to try to resolve your problem, or see if you can find an electronic tech that would be willing to take a look at your system. Maybe try to swap some woodworking for their services. Also, where are you located ? I don't have alot of pull, but work in an industry with Electronic tech's and would be willing to try to hook you up with someone to take a look.
By the way, how much do you have invested in your ecogate system, If your don't mind my asking? If you don't want to say, I understand and will mind my own business. It's just that I was going to spend about $1000- on my setup.
Regards,
Charlie
We have a pretty big system and I don't know if a electronic tech would be able to do anything for us unless they were familiar with the cpu and the firmware that's inside the controllers.
We have three controllers and over 20 gates of various sizes and as I mentioned I have heard the system is pretty reliable when you're using only one controller unit. It seems the problems come into play when the units are daisy-chained together and all the boxes are proggrammed slighlty differently. I've seen ads for systems that run about $500.00 that include the sensors, controller box and four 4" gates that would probably be okay for home shop use. The problem with our system I think is that our use borders on
commercial/industrial and the equipment that was sold to us is what is typically sold for home or light commercial. They make bigger industrial equipment but were not made aware of that until we had purchased and installed our setup.
Have you consulted http://www.woodweb.com yet? They maybe able to help.

Charlie
The thick, sing song, east indian accent is the sound of another job exported. demand to talk to some one here at the company headquartes

Well I wouldn't call the accent sing song anymore than I'd call Bush's Texas drawl a sham and part of his act. But I will say The company is located in CA and that is where the call ends up when it is made.
Not meaning to hijack the thread but 8% of urban California is South Asian. Worked with about 100+ South Asians locally when I was at KMPG Consulting, in Mountain View, California_________________________________

And sooo. . .? What percentage is Hispanic, African-American, Caucasion . . . ? Does it matter as long as everyone is leading a productive life?
Ted
My point is: Just 'cuz you get a sing song accent on the other end of the phone line, doesn't mean you are calling Bangalore._________________________________

I guess I interpreted the remark differently at first. But you're right this country really is the most diverse place on the planet.
