If you look at http://www.woodshopdemos.com you'll see a review of a plastic "shield" that is used to collect dust from SCMSs. It's expensive, but appears to work.
I think you would build something similar out of scrap plywood for pennies on the dollar. but either way this probably collects most of the dust.
John
This is what I did. Built from scrap. Works great.

I have a 2 1/2" dust port on my Hitachi C10FS SCMS, which does the trick. Does the C8 not have one at all?? If not, Terrry's idea works, I have basically the same set up on a straight mitre with extensions.
You got a good idea from the Hatfields, maybe the McCoys will come up with a better one. If you're not old like me, that may have gone over your head. ha..ha..
Good Luck...

it does have a dust port, but most of the dust fly's past the port alotgether and it really needs something to catch what doesn't make it into the port

Then Terry idea is about the only alternative...

Hey Sarge, Time to update the pix file where is the jig saw and sawdust fromthe counter?
jako
You move it all outside, take the pics and then move it back. ha..ha..
I love to paint. My shop can change colors completely in one week-end.

My house needs painting (alot) if your looking for something to do.
I'll buy the beers.
Jeff
PS - Like the shop.

Love to. My favorite move is standing on a two foot ladder cutting where the wall meets the ceiling with a sash brush. I can't draw a striaght line, but I'm great at that. Do a 360* degree swivel listening to S. Louisiana zedeco and won't spill a drop. ha..ha..

Ok you win.
If your ever coming north, visitors are always welcome.
Oh, one thing: what's S. Louisiana Zedeco?
Jeff
Jeff
My wifes from Pa. The welcome is re-ciprocal.
Zydeco is hopped up "cajun" music. Cajun is more like La. country (sorta) Zydeco is more like Louisiana "rock & roll". Best way I can describe it. ha..ha.. Whatever, them folks have a lot of fun on Saturday nite. I'm from Ga., but I have studied cajun culture and like the food, music and dem folks in general.

Hey Sarge you would be the man to paint my house but DW says it needs painting badly so I figure it's the job for me <g>

I got a feelin' who has the most influence in this discussion. Is there a doubt?? I didn't think so. Better get that wrist loosened up. ha..ha..

Hey Sarge,
Them Mc Coy's don't know nothin' 'bout no dust collectin' :-)
BTW...your MS pic looks a lot like a drill press!!?????
Terry
Terry
Are you suggesting my McCoy relatives are incompetent with dust collection. Them words could start a feud..
Yes, I learned how to camouflage well when I was in Rangers. If someone comes to steal my mitre saw, they think it is a drill press. <G>
The mitre saw is hidden off in the rear of the picture, I ain't a great photographer either. I guess us McCoy's are gonna have to go to Night School so we can outsmart you Hatfield's. ha..ha..
sarge..jt
Sarge,
LOL.......
I'm sure some of them Mccoy's know a little 'bout dust collectin'.
Excellent job on the MS camo!!he he he

I think we could solve that feud tween the Hatfield's and McCoy's. We have all the Hatfield boys marry McCoy girls, and vice versa. They'de be so busy arguing with their wives, they wouldn't have time to argue among themselves. Well, except maybe at family reunions. ha..ha..
sarge..jt
Sarge,
That sounds pretty dangerous to me!!! Might need some embedded reporters in that war also.:-)
Terry
Terry
Better not let the McCoy boys find out you got reporters that ask the same stupid questions over and over embedded with any McCoy women. You'd be asking for a real feud then.
We better stop this before we get silly..ha..ha..
sarge..jt
Sarge,
What do you mean "before" we get silly. :-/
Terry
Terry
Before is another case of camouflage. ha..ha..
Have a good week-end...
