Hello All,
My question is about Dado blades (Freud SD508 8″) on Radial arm saw (Delta RS830). When I installed 1/2″ dado (as a test), I noticed that either inside (thickness: ca. 1/2″) or outside (thickness: ca. 1/4″) collar had to be removed to get more space. Regarding inside and outside collars vs. dado blades, basically, should we take off outside collar first? Without (outside) collar, outside dado blade has to be directly tighten by an arbor NUT. Does this situation sound safe or normal? or damage the blade?
Thank you for your help.

Take off the outside coller .The nut has a precision machined face to put against the blade .By removing the inner washer you are only stabilising the blade on the shoulder of the arbour, which is smaller in diameter than a washer. It also may mess with the blade to guard clearance. You are probably aware of the propensity of radial saws to try to climb back at you when using a dado, I suggest taking light cuts at first.
