I’m looking for four pair of butt hinges (2″x 1 1/2″) to complete the hardware for the new kitchen that I’m building. They should have a pewter or nickel finish and I would prefer that they be extruded rather than stamped. Rockler has some that may work but $20 per pair seems a bit steep for these tiny hinges. I’ve checked Lee Valley and they don’t seem to have any that will work. Any other suggestions?

Try Horton Brasses. I just ordered 2" x 1 1/2" butt hinges, they were $13/pr and the finish is superb. Their customer service is excellent, too.

I like Whitechapel, they have a good selection and the quality is excellent . I think most of their hinges are from England, as with alot of their hardware.

I would suspect that you will pay anywhere from $15 - $30 for a decent pair of hinges.
If you wan't cheap hinges that is what you will get, plus the aggravation and frustration that comes along with trying to set crappy hardware.
Do yourself a favor and pay the money for some decent hardware. You'll be glad you did.

Matt and JP,
Thanks for those suggestions. I'll check out Horton Brass tomorrow. I took a look at the Whitechapel site after you (JP) mentioned it in an earlier post. Looks like Whitechapel offers some excellent quality hardware. I'll keep them in mind for future needs but somehow $30 for a pair of butt hinges just sounds indecent. Maybe I'm just getting old or the $500 plus already spent on hardware for this kitchen is beginning to get to me. Back in my day.........................

Chip,It seems crazy that you can get good quality door hinges for the same price. But good cabinet hardware is hard to find. I have not used Horton, and Whitechapel is where I usually buy hinges and locks and never had any problems.J.P.http://www.jpkfinefurniture.com
