Forgive me if this has already been covered, but with the new system it’s awfully hard to find things. Can photos only be attached to initial posts in a thread? I can’t find a way to add photo’s to replies. Please tell me how, if I am missing something obvious. If photos cannot be added in thread replies, this is a serious downgrade, and ought to be at the top of the priority list for new features.

When you start a new thread, scroll down a bit and you'll see the attach-photos stuff. The inability to attach phtos by that mechanism to replies has been reported in the "Bug Tracking" thread and the one below:

Photos already hosted online can be included in replies with HTML code. Examples are given in the other threads.
Ralph,
I think when it comes to "reply" photos there is a problem for most with the whole HTML nonsense to start with, in that it's going backwards and is complex for most who simply want to hit a "Browse" such as in an initial post and it's a real PITA (ruins my train of thought).
I, for one, can do "pathing" off of a network server in Khartoum to my ITouch like drinking a cup of coffee, but so far have not been able to link my internal Local path without a contiguous GET call via HTML and mount a post without by passing my security walls and going through a root path. GETs buy themselves opens up paths to robots and crawlers.
As User-Agent sourcing Client-Server Application protocols without an external URL path, it becomes a u-turn dead end as the FINDER (being THE base application all by itself), generates the vertical hierarchical file system but cannot find paths outside itself without in independent browser that in itself is only designed to look external of the Local server (hard drive or RAM function). "Find" (trace path) again being a function of and within the FINDER and therefore looped)
Finding the LOCAL paths on a platform is a no-brainer for some. On Macs, just drag the file into monitor mode and there it is. I suspect that for many here, like most of the home platform users around the world, they have no idea what the heck HTML and paths are let alone how to implement them.
The old forum had "Browse" in the "OP" or "Reply" originating a call path from forum to an external server(Forum server)through the firewall to the finder to the file creating a continuous path. I think that's what people are asking for.
All my work is stored Local whereas yours resides on your website - n'est pas ?. Others- Photobucket and such. I suspect others may be finding this issue of Local vs. Server, and not knowing the difference, to be their real problem.
Or perhaps it's simple putting the Cart (>) before the (<) horse without a carrot -- (/).
As to HTML itself, if we go down this road with Colors
and bolds and lions and tigers and.... pretty soon it will look like Romper Room instead of a woodworking forum.
I noticed that the allowed HTML tags do not include wood stain*or sanding texture*:)
*If I use the symbols () the words disappeared! damn HTML
Perhaps this is all just too much "high test" before mind engages :). (Too much coffee). Plus....
I can be waaay too serious and dense. Even wrong a lot. Yes, a lot.
Well Duh?
Yes,on the whole after reading this - way too much coffee and way too early

Boiler,
Maybe you need to have a (digital) beer and relax a bit? ;-)

Ralph,
You are so right!

OK Ralph are you going to share with us how you did this? I had to open a new thread to get a image to post. I tried everything I Knew. I thought about waking the kid up and having him try to figure it out. But he would not have been to happy with me, it was easier to start a new post. This is a PITA

I do like the image, I could go for a nice frosted one about now, after the way this week has been.
Taig, the image is hosted on my photography domain, so I just used HTML: (without the spaces)
Samson,
In the right hand column is a box titled "Forum Status". You can and should log you concern as an upgrade request.
That is where the tech folks will be looking for input.
