Anyone have an optionion about routers?
Which Router should I buy, the Bosch 1617EVS or the PC 690 series?
I will buy the kit with both the fixed and plunge bases and plan to use it for everything from making raised panels when mounted under the table to rounding edges.
I have been attracted to the Bosch for a while, but PC’s above the table height adjustment seems sweet. Also, I think the Bosch requires two wrenches to change bits. Not a huge deal, but inconvenient.

I have five P-C routers in the shop, and NEVER had a problem or break down. So, from a durability standpoint, they are hard to beat.
I am developing a Bosch bias. I think their stuff, in general, is great. I have one of their routers for 3 years . I have three Bosch portable power tools, and will consider them first when I make my next purchase

You can't go wrong with either of your choices. Both are outstanding in their own ways. As you mentioned, one has options that the other doesn't, and so on. You'll need to thoroughly evaluate your router needs now and then think about how the features of each router may effect your ability to perform functions that may be required in the future.
Try to remember that every product sold has a certain amount of psychological hype built into its features. In other words, don't get hung up on features that you will probably never use.
Personally, I would lean towards the Porter Cable simply because of their wide selection and dedication to the line over the years. In my opinion, their level of quality has never wavered and they are not one to jump on the bandwagon and slap a bunch of unnecessary wing dings on their products. If something makes sense, they do it, otherwise, they let the others be the ones who are constantly re-tooling in an attempt to keep up with their sales.
From a sales perspective, Porter Cable is easily 10 to 1 over their closest competition, which by the way, in my store is Bosch.

I have 3 PC and 2 Bosch. They work the same but the Bosches are noisier.
They are both great routers, I have both a porter cable 690 and a bosch 2 1/4 hp plunge router. The first thing I should mention is that neither is suitable for raising panels, you need something bigger, or if you do enough, get a shaper.
My advice is go to the store, pick them both up, look at them feature for feature, if possible try them both out and then make a decision.
