I have been very happy with my Bosch 4000 portable table saw.
Over the weekend, I was ripping some 5/4 “lyptus” when the lock on the blade angle adjustment worked loose and allowed the blade to tip and bind horribly in the stock. After I shut down and reset to resume cutting, I found the the motor now has a vibration and the blade appears to have developed some wobble. I switched blades, thinking perhaps the blade had been deformed, but the problem persists. The motor runs, but intermittenly chatters as though it has a bad bearing, or a bent armature?
Does anyone have similar experience and or suggestions for corrective action? I have researched local service centers for Bosch, and will most likely be bringing the unit in over the weekend, but, would appreciate the benefit of anyone’s experience or wisdom.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Sounds like your arbor may have been tweaked or the bearings damaged. I have the same saw, and after noticing a few of the nuts & bolts working themselves loose from time to time, I now inspect and tighten them before using the saw. I should probably apply a little thread locking juice. Is yours still under warranty?
Good luck,

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're right.
Thanks for the response.
Sadly, warranty is expired. I think the thread locking juice is a good idea, would have been even better if I had thought of it sooner sooner.:)
Have you had any experience with getting your saw serviced?
Thanks again.

I think jazzdog is probably right, and unless your're a good mechanic, you will probably have to have it diagnosed at a service center.
On a related matter, there are two small plastic, intermeshing gears that are used to raise and lower the blade on this saw. They will often clog up with sawdust, and make it difficult to raise/lower the blade. I spoke to a Bosch rep recently about the problem, and he gave me a chit to take along to the service center, and they will fix it, even though the saw is out of warranty. The service guy told me the fix is simple, but if you force the handle when the gears are clogged, the damage to the saw will cost you $200 to fix. I can't imagine why it would cost so much, but that's what he said.......
Good luck with your saw. Let us know what happens.
