Can anyone make recommendations/preferences for a benchtop table saw capable of making precise cuts used in making a variety of boxes – jewelry, etc. and that accept standard miter gauges.

Benchtops can be problematic - they typically aren't built to the kind of specs that contractor, hybrid or cabinet saws are.
That being said, I have read really good reviews of the Bosch and the Ridgid benchtops. You'll pay more, but you'll get a better saw.
