I recently purchased a Rockwell/delta 20″ bandsaw at an auction. I didn’t realize it at the time but the motor is a 3 phase and my shop is only wired for single phase. Did I make a mistake or does anyone have a suggestion or know where I can buy a replacement motor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can put a VFD from http://www.factorymation.com and run it on single phase power. You will also get varible speed with a VFD. Call the tech up to size the unit correctly. Cheaper than a new motor and switch.
Hi Chalkie... A 20" bandsaw usually has a heavier motor. Look for any 220 V motor with at least 1.5 HP rating, if your shop has 220v. You may be able to get away with a 1.25 or 1.5 HP 110 volt motor. Check in the yellow pages under the motor rebuilding list and see if there's a local shop trhat can help you out. The replacement motor will have to have the proper mounting bracket (usually fairly standard) and the correct shaft diam and rotation. It's usually a simple swap. Remember that you will most likely not be using the magnetic switch when you change motors.
