I just made a shelf for a neighbor.. Yep.. I have no pictures.. My Son went off to Colorado with mine.. My puter crashed and lost my Cad program.. Anyway.. He did not want a metal wall mount.
Without pictures I think you will be able to get the ‘drift’ of it..
Plazma thing.. I think he payed about 4 grand fer’ it? Geeee My first Corvett cost about that! (1964?)
HE, not wanting to have it fall to the floor.. SO I made some shelves and wooden support brackets for the shelf.. Ya know, all routed and fancy corners. Everything can be taken apart and removed and you just have to fix a few holes in the plaster. (Old house)
I mounted two 2X4 Ash uprights (routed cove edges) and fixed to the wall studs with long screws into the studs about every 12 inches). He wanted them floor to ceelin’?.. Well, about 9 foot or so long..
The uprights have a trim strip in the center that covers the LONG screws that hold the uprights to the studs. (You know as in hide the screw heads but still removable (I made threaded wooden plugs to cover the screw heads. I just love my metal lathes!)….
Any type of plug would do…. Just do not glue it in!
The shelves (As in two fitted with slots that fit around the uprights)
I have no idea why he wanted two.. Just one TV?
To cut costs I drank my Jack as he sipped his GOOD wine watching me…
NA.. not really.. He don’t like to drink…
I fixed the shelf support brackets (Sort of nice curves to the bottom .. Again with matching.. Ya know, all routed and fancy corners.).. Anyway, I just used the standard metal “L” from the local BigBox that are fitted into a slot I routed into the back and top of the shelf bracket (Metal bracket holes chamfered for flat head #12 screws). Screw the braket on center/line of the upright support. Push that shelf support onto the “L” and screw into the bracket into the support from the top)
Note: I added two hardwood dowels (no glue). YEP, with mating holes, to help support the bracket into the upright and to keep the shelf from moving forward.
OH.. One screw at the back of the shelf into the support keeps the shelf from tipping forward..
Last time I checked the TV still up threre!
By the way, All the stuff cost less than the metal wall bracket.

I liked the part about the "Jack". It helps pass the time - AFTER you are out of the shop.
