The other day I was poking around the Internet looking at various used furniture sites and came across a small round table with a glass top. It was made in Hungary around 1910. I decided to use the table for a bit of SketchUp practice and came up with what you see here. The only information I had to start with was the overall dimensions and a couple of images so the rest of it is made up on the fly.
This model offers some good practice with the Offset and Push/Pull tools. It also gives you an opporttunity to think about ways to streamline your modeling by utilizing parts of the model you’ve already drawn.
In this part I’ll draw the basic geometry for the table. In Part 2 I’ll put a carved detail in the middle section of the legs, add joinery details and apply materials.
Note: at about 4 minutes into the video I said that Option C is the shortcut for Edit>Copy on the Mac. I should have said, “Command-C”.

Very logical, sequential progression and intuitive development of the Sketch Up depiction. I look forward to the Joinery details in Part Two.
Hello Dave, and all that follow. Thanks for the time with these tutorials. Completing the the models is great and to have something cool to submit to the 3D Warehouse also cool. The information about the tools and applying your acquired tool tips plus uses. You apply a "direction" for newbie`s (myself) to follow and grow with that I feel is more important then the completed item being modeled. Almost all the You Tube tutorials the author`s in a sense showing off there experience, leaving you to conclude or guest at the out come. Of the and how you provide your information is the ground work for one to equip themselves and build to their future growth. The difference is you are showing me what I can do, not what you have achieved. The use of the tape measure, inferencing and copying and rotating the shelf line. As I would have spent 20 minutes trying to draw the complete shelf in one shot. This are the little things that make for a great difference. Thanks for sharing and the time and completeness of the info!!
...Peace.....
