Recently I’ve been working with a woodworker who is new to SketchUp. One of the projects he is interested in drawing is a display case for a flag. This is a great model for learning some basic skills. As with just about everything in SketchUp, there are probably a number of ways to go about drawing the parts for this case. My approach is just one of them.
I didn’t get into it the video but the “flag” in the image above was made by creating a texture from an image I found of a folded flag in a flag box. It is applied to the face of a triangular component so it could be used again in future models if desired.
Note: In the video, when I copied the side to make the other one, I erroneously said I was holding Ctrl to lock the move direction. I should have said I was holding Shift to lock the direction. I guess that’s what I get for working with very little sleep. 😉
