Delta/Porter-Cable will announce the winners at its booth at the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta, on or about August 22. The top three will be displayed at the show.
More than $16,000 in woodworking tools from Delta/Porter-Cable is at stake in this competition. The winners will get tool packages valued at more than $9,000, $4,000, or $2,000 respectively for the first, second, and third place winners.
Fine Woodworking launched the contest to test woodworkers’ creativity and construction skills. In the hands of a craftsman, one board has a thousand possible lives. Unlock one, said magazine editor Asa Christiana when he announced the build-off challenge. Woodworkers needed to build the furniture from one maple board, 2 in. thick by 10 in. wide by 10 ft. long or the equivalent of no more than 17 board feet.
