The author evaluated 13 router tables for the sturdiness of their tables and fences, for dust collection, and for ease of operation and setup. A good router table is flat and has a stout base and a fence able to support jigs and hold-downs. The fence on the Freud is made of cast aluminum had has separately adjustable plastic-laminated MDF infeed and outfeed fences and no T-tracks. The top is 1-in. MDF with plastic laminate on one side and raw MDF edges. The base of this model flexed during use and the table sagged 0.025 in. Note that the price includes the Freud FT2000E router.
Fine Woodworking Recommended Products
Tite-Mark Marking Gauge
These gauges can be easily and precisely adjusted with one hand, which allows you to set the tool while holding a ruler or workpiece in the other. The quality is exceptional, and all have sharp cutters that offer great visibility.
Sawstop Miter Gauge
It has a toothed angle-setting rack that is extremely solid, accurate, and easy to use, and it offers all of the features I love in a miter gauge, including the ability to add an auxiliary wood fence, and a flip-stop that will accommodate it.
Blackwing Pencils
If you've listened to Shop Talk Live, you've heard them talk more about these pencils than you could possibly imagine.
