Maple and walnut room divider & desk
comments (2) October 4th, 2009 in Reader's Gallery
My client commissioned this two sided cabinet to serve as a room divider separating the bedroom and sitting room/office areas. The large panel in the center is a tambour concealing a flatpanel TV. The shop made wood hinges have brass sleeves and pins. The wedged bands on the hourglass pillars and the shelf supports are forged steel. In the office area desk the pigeon holes sit behind another tambour. I used a walnut slab taken from the base of a crotch, and three different spieces of maple to saw all the bookmatched veneers.
