Mesquite and white oak sculpture
The sculpture, called the Black Eyed Pea, came first. It was power-carved over the course of 2 1/2 years from a mesquite root burl that came from Danny’s property. The cabinet, called Joey, was made for the sculpture to sit on. Because a sculpture is meant to be viewed from all sides, the grid cabinet is as well. It’s got a cabinet door enclosing adjustable shelves on one side and four drawers on the other.
