Bessey EKH Trigger Clamps
Bessey EKH series quick-release trigger-style clamps are simple to use and maintain consistent pressure. Trigger clamps that perform the way you've always wished they would!
Accessing the knives on the Triton for changes was not difficult, but getting the knives out was tricky, because no magnetized handles were provided to lift the knives off the cutterhead. There is a 2-1/2-in.-dia. dust port, and chip collection was good when hooked up to a shop vacuum. The housing has an open top and just one return roller on top, making it impossible to stack boards there in between passes through the machine. Also, there is no gauge that indicates how much material you are removing in a pass, making it one of four planers that don’t offer this feature.
The Powermatic smoothed boards excellently. It has a plastic insert that sits shallow of the fence, where thin boards tended to catch when flattening faces. The Powermatic was the only model that uses a knob to adjust the angle of the fence—a nice feature—except that locking it caused the fence to move slightly, which made it tricky to square the fence. But when locked, the fence did not move. The 90° stop was easy to set but wasn’t reliable. The guard was finicky to install and would often not snap back fully after a board passed by.

This saw is nearly identical to the TSC 55 REB, with two main upgrades. The first is a thinner blade that cuts quicker and extends battery life up to 40%, according to Festool. The second is the headline-grabber: an anti-kickback device that replaces the riving knife. The KEB is compatible with older Festool tracks and batteries. You can buy just the bare tool, the tool with the batteries, or the tool with the batteries and a 55-in. track.
Wonderful cradle.

Beautiful job!
