Contemporary bed side table
I had been thinking of bedside tables for almost a year. tearing out pictures, thinking of how to do the joinery. Then I needed to design something that I could build fast. Normally I wouldn’t just opt for the quick route, but I couldn’t take months to do this. I decided to use sheet quartersawn oak, and edge it. Dado the shelves and drawer rails and make the drawers with dovetails, but use glides instead of wood runners. I designed it with a custom pc of glass for the top. You can see the beautiful grain, but don’t have to worry about coffee rings! I am still waiting for these very beautiful bronze retro looking pulls. With only two pulls, you can pull out all the stops on price. I only wish I didn’t get tear out on the ply wood with my dado blade. Ugh. After the first one, I went for the router. Finished with a diluted shellac, then a wiping varnish.
